Our Mission

“92% of women say that reducing domestic violence and sexual assault should be at the top of any formal efforts taken on behalf of women today.”
- Center for the Advancement of Women, 2003

The Little Black Dress Society is a service organization dedicated to Educating, Empowering, Engaging, and Embracing women of all walks of life in a collective effort to end the abuse of women.  Through the power of the Little Black Dress, we inspire women to Love, Believe, and Dream.

We wear our LBDs (Little Black Dresses) at our events to bring awareness to violence against women. This violence exists in every country of the globe, among all peoples. There are no social or economic boundaries: rich women, poor women, white women, black women, educated women, illiterate women...all are affected.

A Spirit of Giving

Through small groups we call “Societies” throughout the world we combine energy, efforts, education, and involved giving through philanthropy. We believe through our combined efforts we can help remove the blindfold caused by abuse--and end abuse--by educating women.

Our “Society Dressmakers” are women who support our mission statement and vision for this organization. They invite friends and colleagues to join the Little Black Dress Society, therefore empowering women to make a difference through the power of collective giving. The Dressmakers are responsible for monthly meetings and events and are given guidelines and fun ideas for volunteering, fundraising, and increasing awareness.

Our Founder

Amanda Graybill founded the Little Black Dress Society in 2009 in San Antonio, Texas. The women's abuse organization which began with fourteen members expanded to seventy-five members in ninety days, and the group’s first charity event raised more than $1,700 for Kendall County Women’s Shelter in Boerne, Texas. With the need for women to build lasting friendships and cultivate relationships that give back to society, women are excited to become members.

Besides that, the name itself is a magnet. The Little Black Dress Society is a classy organization representing a classic dress, but as Amanda is quick to point out, “It’s not about the dress, it’s about the woman wearing it.”
